Second Avenue SweetS

My daughter and I popped in here by sheer chance. We were in the area shopping for a birthday present and saw this shoppe tucked away on Second Avenue, just off Bank Street. I got a croissant for my 11 month old to enjoy and a lemon cupcake for myself. I've honestly never enjoyed a cupcake more in my life. If you're a fan of all things lemon, you absolutely must try one. I don't remember whether the cupcake itself was vanilla or lemon flavoured but what was so beautiful about it was it's centre which was filled with lemon curd. This, combined with it's lemon butter cream frosting and a sprinkling of sugared lemon zest made for the most beautifully delicious balance of sweet and tart. All I can say is that if this is the standard for all their baked goods, it is easily one of the best bakeries in Ottawa.
